Dogo Kabiru: Sunshine Stars must sign attackers and defenders to compete next season

Sunshine Stars of Akure technical adviser Kabiru Dogo, Says he’s keen to strengthen the defense and attack of his team before the end of the current transfer window.

Sunshine Stars lost leading attacker Sikiru Alimi to next season’s CAF Champions League campaigners Lobi Stars following the shakeups in the team by the Ondo State Football Agency and the Ministry of Sports.

However, Dogo admits that his side must bring in an attacker and a defender to help the team succeed in next season Nigeria Professional Football League.

“I must commend the organizer of the Gold Cup Tourney for bringing it to Akure,” said the former Nasarawa United boss said at the Gold Cup pre-season tournament.

“It is a good platform for me, my assistants and other participating teams to test the players.”

“For the ones we invited, they have been sweating it out in the training sessions with a view to impress me and my assistants and also know if they can fit into our playing patterns.”

“I have only trained with the players in less than a week and I have seen the loose ends in the team.”

“The squad that played in the game against Lobi Stars were the ones I met on ground. I was quite satisfied with their performance but a lot still needs to be done if Sunshine Stars is to compete well this season.

“I hope to shop for strikers and defenders to give the team the needed options at the back and off course attack,” he concluded.
