Dream Team VIII Captain Success Makanjuola praised coach Salisu Yusuf after the team’s hard fought victory over Tanzania on Saturday.
The Dream Team VIII sealed their place in the next phase of the CAF U23 Afcon qualifiers with a 3-1aggregate win over the junior Taifa Stars.
The first half at the Lekan Salami Stadium ended goalless, but Nigeria took the game by the scruff in the second half to secure the win.
Ogunniyi Oluwatimilehin scored one and won another penalty converted by Makanjuola.
“Our coach (Salisu Yusuf) had to make us understand the need to be decisive and calm down. We followed his instructions and played without nativity.
“It’s all about unity and continuity. The coach made us realize the importance of winning,” the winger told the media after the game.
Asked if he’s enjoying his role as the leader of the team, Makanjuola said that, “The captain arm band is a Burden of the nation.
“I have people who have supported me since the journey started. The coaches have encouraged me. I am not under pressure because the right people are around me.
“I am enjoying my journey. When the time comes I will play for the Super Eagles.”
