Ekpo advocates for home based players despite loss to Togo

Former Nigeria international Friday Ekpo has stated that the CHAN Eagles team players are not to blame for the fate that befell them despite the 4-1 defeat suffered in the hands of Togo.

Ekpo speaking in a chat with www.brila.net said the defeat doesn’t in anyway take away from their quality but form which is as a result of lack of league engagement.
He argued that the domestic league still have good enough players for the task at hand and even at the main Super Eagles team but got a result that reflected the true state of what the administrators of the league has done with the league so far.
“We have people who runs this administration and each time they lambast these home based players. You cannot have good quality players when you don’t play week in week out to know currently where the strength of the players lie and for the coach to see who and who to pick on current form.
The coach is just left to pick players based on their last form shown during the last abridged league season which is not good for Nigerian football. “
