Embarrassing stats trails Kano Pillars’ record defeat to Enyimba in Aba

Enyimba defeated Kano Pillars 4-0 in one of the matchday 24 fixtures of the 2021-2022 Nigerian Professional Football League.

It was Enyimba’s biggest win in the domestic league in five years. The last time they scored four goals against an opponent was in 2017, against Wikki Tourists of Bauchi.

Enyimba went ahead through Victor Mbaoma in the 31st minute. The striker stylishly finished Bilal Yakubu’s cut back into the box.

The former Remo Stars striker got his second in the 63rd minute. Pillars goalkeeper Enaholo failed to gather a routine cross and allowed Victor Mbaoma to benefit from it.

It became 4-0 in the 74 minutes as substitute Emeka Obioma got his name on the score sheet. He ran onto a through-ball to lob the ball over an onrushing Enaholo.

Godwin Emmanuel put the icing on the cake for Enyimba when he made it four after Enaholo made an initial save from Mbaoma.

Kano Pillars have now suffered their worst defeat in the NPFL since a 4-0 loss to Shooting Stars in August 2016.

The Sai Masu Gida are the only team yet to score in the second phase of this season.

The heavy defeat drops Pillars to 19th position on the NPFL table.
