FIFA U17 Women’s World: Flamingos to battle United States for a place in the last four

Nigeria’s Flamingos will slug it out with the Group A winners the United States in the quarterfinals.

The Africans finished as runners-up in Group B, with six points to set a mouthwatering clash with the United States of America.

The Americans wrapped up their Group campaign with an emphatic 4-0 success over Morocco on Monday.

With 24 minutes on the clock, Melina Rebimbas crossed for Charlotte Kohler to place a first-time shot into the back of the net.

The Americans doubled their lead when Emeri Adames galloped away down the left and sent in a low cross that a sliding Samantha Smith converted at the far post.

Charlotte Kohler makes it 3-0 a few minutes later before Smith grabbed her second of the game late on to round off an easy win for her side.

The win sealed first place in the group. As for Morocco, defeat spelled the end of their tournament.

They will play Nigeria at the DY Patil Stadium on Friday, October 21 for a place in the semi-final.
