Rivers United technical adviser, Finidi George has admitted that his side’s 2-1 victory over Akwa United in their matchday five encounter was far from easy.

The Pride of Rivers secured the win at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium, with goals from Stephen Manyo and Ndifreke Effiong, while Friday Apollos netted for Akwa United.

Finidi praised Akwa United for their resilience, acknowledging that they came determined to fight for at least a draw.

“It was a difficult three points,” Finidi said in his post-match interview. “Akwa United came in here to fight and see how they could get a draw, so we must commend them for putting in that effort.

“It’s not easy, but at the end of the day, we got those three points.”

The victory keeps Rivers United on track in their strong start to the season.
