Finidi Not Desperate For Super Eagles Coach Job

Interim Head Coach of the Super Eagles, Finidi George says he’s not desperate for the permanent head coach role.

Following the departure of Jose Peseiro, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) appointed Finidi on an interim basis as head the Super Eagles head coach.

The former Ajax and Real Mallorca star recently led the team in the March international window, overseeing friendlies against Ghana and Mali.

In an interview with SportsBoom, Finidi expressed his satisfaction to be in charge for the role, stating, “When I was told to take charge, it felt really good.”

Despite speculation surrounding the permanent head coach position, Finidi remains focused on his current responsibilities.

The NFF, meanwhile, has announced its search for a new head coach, with candidates like Daniel Amokachi, Emmanuel Amuneke, and Sunday Oliseh, showing interest in the vacant role.

As the search for a permanent head coach continues, Finidi George remains committed to leading the Super Eagles, providing stability and guidance to the team during the transition period.

“I’m not new to the team, so it wouldn’t take me so long to adapt and try to do new things. I’ve been with the team for almost two years. I know all the players, their strengths, their weaknesses.

“I’m here to serve Nigeria, I’ve been called upon to do that and I will do it to my best capacity, the way I know how to do stuff.

“I will just take these 2 games and go back to my club. Whatever decision is taken after, so be it. I’m not under pressure to say ‘It must be me,” He concluded.
