KAA Gent head coach, Hein Vanhaezebrouck refused to blame Gift Orban over his recent drought in front of goal.

Orban featured against RWDM last weekend after serving a one-game suspension for a sending off.

The forward was anonymous in the 1-1 draw, raising concern over his recent poor run in front of goal.

He last found back of the net for Gent against Sint Truiden in August 2023.

“He is the top scorer, after all. We created many chances, but not when he came on. That also means something,” Vanhaezebrouck said after last weekend’s game.

Vanhaezebrouck insists Orban isn’t responsible for the poor run, instead he called on his teammates to create more opportunities for the 21-year-old.

“You also have to be able to create your chances. We barely saw him. You have that as a striker. You have periods when every ball falls well, but not now. Our crosses were not good enough either.”

So far this season, the youngster has scored two goals in seven league matches for Gent this season.
