Bright Osayi-Samuel expressed satisfaction as the Super Eagles secured an important 1-0 win against Cote d’Ivoire in a Group A clash at the Alassane Ouattara Stadium in Ebimpe.

The triumph propelled Nigeria to second place on the table, just a goal shy of Equatorial Guinea, reshaping their prospects for advancing to the 2023 AFCON round of 16.

Reflecting on the victory, Osayi-Samuel said, “It was a huge win for us, especially when no one gave us a chance against the Ivorians.”

He emphasized the significance of the result, stating, “It puts us in a very good position. We haven’t achieved anything, and we have to keep going.”

With eyes set on their final Group stage encounter against Guinea Bissau on Monday, the Super Eagles remain focused despite their opponent’s elimination from the tournament.

Osayi-Samuel highlighted the team’s determination to continue the momentum.

“We have another important game on Monday, so let’s see if we can win that too.”

Acknowledging the threat posed by Guinea Bissau, he added, “They have beaten us before, so we want revenge, but we know they aren’t an easy team.”
