France goalkeeper Hugo Lloris picked former Super Eagles defender Onyekachi Apam as the most talented African player he ever played with.
In a short video posted on social media by Supersport, the Tottenham Hotspur shot-stoper shower praises on the Nigerian centre-half.
Lloris and Apam shared dressing room together at Nice, and while the goalkeeper has developed to one of the best in the world, Apam was unlucky with injuries and he career suffered several setback.
“I’ve played with many African players, and it’s difficult to pick, but I remember the one I first play with, maybe you don’t know, he’s Onyekachi Apam. He’s a Nigerian and I played with him at Nice. “
“He was very talented, I remember the first game he played, it was against Marseille and he played at left back. After the game people keeps asking who is this player , because they couldn’t beat him one on one.
“But unfortunately he had bad injuries and couldn’t follow with rhythm of the game. He was very talented. “Lloris said.
The 35-year-old, Apam played 105 games for Nice, before he was allowed to join Reenes before joining MLS side, Seattle Sounders FC.
Apam retired in 2014 after sustaining injuries while playing for the Seattle Sounders FC.
He represented Nigeria at the FIFA U20 World Cup, 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing as part of the men’s football team and made 14 appearances for the Super Eagles.
