Ademola Lookman expressed confidence in Atalanta’s ability to navigate his absence during the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

The 26-year-old, who secured a 1-0 victory against Lecce with a winning goal, is set to join his international teammates as they gear up for AFCON 2023.

As Lookman prepares to depart, Atalanta faces the prospect of approximately six games without their standout winger, should Nigeria progress to the final in Cote d’Ivoire.

However, Lookman remains optimistic, asserting that his Atalanta comrades possess the quality to excel in his absence.

‘We have a good team, with strong players,” the Nigerian winger said. “I will go to the African Cup but my teammates will do an excellent job, I have faith in them.”

The striker is Atalanta’s top scorer in the league this season with seven goals and three assists.

The Super Eagles are scheduled to commence their AFCON 2023 preparations in Abu Dhabi on January 2.
