IAU AFRICAN CHAMPIONSHIPS: ORGANIZERS CONFIDENT OF A SUCCESSFUL OUTING IN NIGERIA

Organizers of the 50km International Association of Ultrarunners African Championship, scheduled for Nigeria later in the year say apart from the attractive prize money at stake, it will also boost sports and infrastructural development in the country.

The race, which is scheduled to hold in Remo, Ogun State on December 7 will feature participants across Africa with South Africa and Cape Verde already signifying interest.
The head of the race’s technical crew, Norrie Willianson, said he is excited that an ultra race is coming to Nigeria, adding that South Africa is known to be the hub of ultra races on the continent.
Former president of the Athletics Federation of Nigeria, Solomon Ogba while baring his mind stressed that the race would meet international standards.
Ogba confirmed that arrangements are in top gear to ensure a hitch free championship and pleaded with well meaning Nigerians to work hands in glove for the success of the event.
