It’s an honour to get Super Eagles invite – Joshua Oluwayemi

Tottenham Hotspurs young goalkeeper Joshua Oluwayemi is delighted to get his maiden call up to the Super Eagles ahead of the July 3rd friendly match against Mexico.

 

The shot-stopper was handed a late invitation to the squad after captain Ikechukwu Ezenwa pulled out of the game, due to injury.

 

The goalkeeper is currently with the team in Los Angeles and will compete against other goalkeepers for a place in the starting 11.

 

Born in England to Nigerian parents Oluwayemi has represented his country of birth, England at the junior.

 

Reacting to his invitation to the three-time African champions Oluwayemi said:  “It’s an honour to get called to my national team @NGSuperEagles . Tune in to watch us take on Mexico, in Los Angeles”.

 

The 20-year-old goalkeeper who is Tottenham Hotspurs U-23 first choice goalkeeper is the third goalie in the Super Eagles squad after John Noble and Stanley Nwabali.
