Alex Iwobi could return to Everton’s squad for the Premier League clash against Southampton at Goodison Park on Saturday.
Iwobi sustained ankle ligament damage following a challenge from Tyrell Malacia during Everton’s FA Cup defeat at Old Trafford last weekend.
The midfielder was initially ruled out of action for three weeks after scan revealed the damage.
The former Arsenal midfielder is now expected to return ahead of schedule and will have a fitness test before the Southampton game, according to Head Coach Frank Lampard.
“It’s a lesser injury than what we thought. So, we’ll see in the morning if he’s (Iwobi) ready to play tomorrow.” Lampard told a press conference on Friday.
Iwobi’s sudden recovery is a good news for underfire Frank Lampard who is desperate to improve the Toffees’ position on the table.
