Iwobi’s Everton goes 4th on Premier League table after Burnley win

Super Eagles forward Alex Iwobi was given a cameo appearance in Everton’s Premier League victory over Burnley at Goodison Park on Monday.

The Nigerian international was 88th minutes substitute as the Toffees came from a goal down to beat Burnley 3-1 in front of their fans.

Coach Rafael Benitez has now left the former Arsenal star out of starting 11 for the last two Premier League games this season, with his last start coming in the Carabao Cup game against Huddersfield Town on August 24th.

Ben Mee gave the visitors a deserved lead with a header from Johann Berg Gudmundsson’s cross in the 53rd minute, but the game turned on its head out of nowhere on the hour mark.

Former Burnley defender Michael Keane leveled the scores with his own header from an Andros Townsend cross seven minutes later before Townsend made it 2-1 with a stunner from 25 yards that went into the top corner.

Demarai Gray sealed the victory for Everton just 27 seconds after the restart. The former Leicester City player raced through on goal from Abdoulaye Doucoure’s pass.

The victory moved Everton to fourth on the table. They sit behind, Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool, although they have 10 points.

Everton now goes on to face Aston Villa at Villa Park on Saturday.
