John Hartson gives verdict on Joe Aribo’s potential return to Glasgow Rangers

Former West Ham United and Celtic striker John Hartson has advised Rangers to resign Joe Aribo from Southampton.
Aribo is a fan favorite during his time with the Gers before securing a transfer to Southampton last summer.
The move didn’t work for both parties as Aribo was limited to few appearances in his debut season for the now relegated Southampton.
There are a lot of uncertainties about his future at St Mary, with the club ready to listen to offers for fringe players as they begin preparations for life outside Premier League for the first time in 11 years.
Speaking on Go Radio, via Football Scotland, Hartson back the Gers to make the move for their one-time favourite son.
“I’d take him back in a heartbeat if the opportunity was there but how would it work financially?
“Southampton will want some of the fees back if he’s out of the picture, meanwhile Michael Beale wants to build his own team.
“If he Aribo became available I’d take him. He knows the club and did well so why not. But it will depend on wages and fees.”
Aribo enjoyed a successful spell with Rangers, helping them to a league title in the 2020/2021 season.
He also helped them to one Scottish Cup success and scored in the Europa League final, where they lost to Eintracht Frankfurt.
