Jugen Klopp salutes Emery’s Villarreal after Epic UCL game

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp salutes Samuel Chukwueze and his Villarreal teammates, following their performance in the UCL second on Tuesday.

Liverpool fought hard to see off a spirited Villarreal and advance to the final of this season’s UEFA champions league.

Liverpool took a comfortable 2-0 lead from the first leg to the El Madrigo, but the advantage disappeared as Villarreal scored twice in the first half to level the 2-2 on aggregate.

However, a much improved second half saw the Kop score threw goals to take the game from Villarreal and progress to the final with a 5-2 aggregate victory.

“I love the night, respect to Villarreal. It was a really wonderful stadium and what the people do here is absolutely incredible, what Unai (Emery) is doing is incredible.” Klopp said at the post-match conference.

The German has now qualified Liverpool for the third Champions League final in five seasons, an achievement, he’s proud of.

“It feels so special because it was so difficult for us, but in the end we deserved it. That’s really cool.

“It was massive, massive from the boys. Before the game, I said to the boys I would like to read the headline ‘the mentality monsters are in town because I wanted us in the first moment not to defend but to go for the win. I couldn’t see that (in the first half) but in the second half, I did.

“You could see how impressed we were in the first half (by Villarreal) and coming back the way we did in the second half was really special.” He said.

Liverpool will now meet the winner between Real Madrid and Manchester City in the final.
