Leon Balogun is still basking in the euphoria of Rangers’ qualification for the final of the Europa League.
Balogun was involved as the Gers booked a final spot in the competition with a 3-2 aggregate victory against RB Leipzig.
It is the first time the Scottish Giants will be playing a final of major European competition in 14 years.
“Right now I’m not really able to tell you exactly what it means to me. It means a lot for the club after everything they’ve been through over the years,”Balogun was quoted by Rangers Review.
“Last year we had a good European run and we said at the start of the season we wanted to do it again. It’s just unbelievable.”
Looking back at his career, the Nigeria international said, he’s proud to his journey and what he has achieved with the team.
“For me, personally, it’s something I’m really proud of. I still have to fathom it. Football can be crazy sometimes.
“I’ve had difficult periods in my career. I didn’t have a club for a certain period of time, bounced back, made it back to the Bundesliga.
“After four-and-a-half years at Brighton I didn’t kick my own backside, went to Wigan on loan, then to come here and win the league and now to go to the Europa League final.
“I’ll let it sink in for a few days. I’m incredibly happy and proud for every Ranger because it’s what we deserve as a club.”
Last night was always going to be special for obvious reasons. But there’s special, and then there’s Ibrox @RangersFC 🥹💙🇬🇧 pic.twitter.com/yOHbnlDT2Z
