Lookman scores a brace in Atalanta’s demolition of Salernitana

Ademola Lookman scored twice and assisted another goal as Atalanta made history with 8-2 demolition of Salernitana on Sunday.

Atalanta scored five of the goals in the first half and they have done that only once in their history, which was in November 1941 against Napoli.

Atalanta have scored seven Serie A goals before under Gian Piero Gasperini, beating Udinese 7-1 at home in October 2019, Lecce 7-2 away in March 2020 and Torino 7-0 away in January 2020.

They set a new record with goals from Jeremy Boga, Ademola Lookman, Nadir Zortea, Ederson, Giorgio Scalvini, Teun Koopmeiners and Rasmus Hojlund.

Lookman, scored Atalanta’s second of the game from penalty spot in the first half.

He got his brace in second half with a fine rocket from outside the area to make it 6-2 for Atalanta. He then followed it up with an assist for the seventh goal, scored by Ederson.

Lookman now has nine goal and two assists in seventeen games for the Pierre Gasperini’s side.

He moves three goals within compatriot, Victor Osimhen who is leading the scorers chart in Italy.
