Lookman The Hero! Wins Europa League Final, Ends Leverkusen’s Unbeaten Run

Ademola Lookman has made history as the first player to score a hat-trick in the final of the Europa League as Atalanta defeated Bayer Leverkusen 3-0 to lift their first-ever European trophy.

Lookman scored a first half brace (12′, 26′) and completed his hat-trick late in the second half (75′) during the UEL final match in Dublin.

The Nigerian’s one-man show also brought an end to Leverkusen’s 51-game unbeaten run, which is the longest by a European club.

He was voted the Man of the Match.

Starting in his third final in 2024, Lookman had lost in two previous decisive games; against Cote d’Ivoire in the Africa Cup of Nations and the Coppa Italia against Juventus.

Atalanta entered the UEL final hoping to end a 61-year trophyless run and the 26 year-old had contributed 7goals and 1 assist to ensure a successful European campaign for Gian Piero Gasperini’s side.
