Low Turnout in Agege on CAF CL Return, Even Rohr Wasn’t Feeling It

No City parties like Lagos? Well, it didn’t seem like it when the CAF Champions League fiesta came to town on Wednesday and even Super Eagles Technical Adviser, Gernot Rohr did not feel the groove.

MFM FC hosted Malian side, Real Bamako in Lagos for the second-leg of the preliminary round tie.

And though it was the first time in over a decade since a club continental game was played in Lagos state, only a handful of fans made it to the Temple.

MFM FC decided their first continental home game with a 1-0 victory – and progressed 2-1 on aggregate.

Speaking with Brila.net after the match, Rohr praised the NPFL side for their discipline players against a very determined opposition – who needed goals.

The Franco-German urged Lagos fans to turn out in future games to show the club some support.

‘I think MFM FC played a good game against a team that needed goals and it made the first half difficult.

‘But, I wasn’t so impressed with the turn out. It’s soo long since a CAF champions league match was played in Lagos, so I expected a larger crowd.

‘Hopefully, the next time the fans will be out here to support the team and charge the players to do more,’ Rohr said after the game.
