MFM Secure First ever league win over Enyimba

MFM FC boosted their hope of survival with a shocking 1-0 win over Enyimba in a rescheduled NPFL game on Thursday.

The Olukoya Boys were the underdogs going into their game, no thanks to their poor run of results against their opponents.

Enyimba on their part were hoping to make it back to back wins in Agege stadium after beating Sunshine Stars 1-0 at the same venue recently.

Fatai Osho made two changes to his team as Orok Gabriel and Olufemi Kayode came in for Anayo Iwuala and John Noble, who are away to national team assignment.

MFM started the game well and created the first chance inside the opening five minutes, Elijah Akanni picked the pocket of Cyril Olisema before forcing a save from Olufemi Kayode.

Enyimba finally registered an attempt in the 16 minutes, Emmanuel Ampiah picked out Mbaoma with his free kick but the striker directed his header off target.

The hosts finally scored what proved the winning goal  in the 22nd minutes through their top striker Ebenezer Odeyemi.

MFM defended the slim advantage and defeated the Aba Elephants in a league game after nine attempts.

MFM moved to 14th on the table with 20 points from 17 games, while Enyimba are sixth with three points off the joint leaders Kwara United and Rangers.
