Mikel could remain in China after Tianjin TEDA exit

Skipper of the Nigerian Men’s National team, John Mikel Obi could remain in the Chinese Super League ahead of the new season despite quitting Tianjin Teda.

The former Chelsea midfielder became a free agent after terminating his contract with the Northern Chinese outfit Tianjin Teda, hinted that he won’t rule out the chance of remaining in the Oriental country despite offers from several clubs outside China.

Reports reaching our desks have it that the player could be on his way to Beijing Sinobo Guoan as the Capital City club are thought to be monitoring his situation and could make a move for The Nigerian after the departure of Catalan midfielder Jonathan Soriano to Al-Hilal of Saudi Arabia identifying the Super Eagle as the perfect replacement both in the heart of midfield and to fill their quota of foreign player designations in the CSL.

Mikel, 31, joined Tianjin Teda in 2017 after a trophy-laden spell at Chelsea, spending two years and playing for two full seasons at the club.
