Mikel reveals his Super Eagles successor, not Aribo

Former Super Eagles captain join Mikel Obi has revealed his admiration for Nigerian duo of Joe Aribo and Alex Iwobi.

Mikel retired from the national team after leading the country to a bronze place finish at the 2019 African Cup of Nations in Egypt.

The Trabzonspor’s midfielder meanwhile showered encomiums on the team for how they have on without him by beating Benin Republic and Lesotho in the 2021 African Cup of Nations qualifiers.

The former Chelsea of England however added that , he’s impressed with Aribo’s performances so far, but insists Iwobi is the man that took his place in the team, not the Glasgow Rangers man.

“I like the man who took my number Aribo but many people don’t understand that Alex Iwobi is the player in my role”.

”Iwobi started playing that role from the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations and I have been impressed with how he has settled in properly. We all know he is a good player so it’s no surprise that he has done well so far” He said.
