Nigeria’s Medal Hope Dashed, Amusan Misses Out

Nigeria’s biggest hope of a medal at the ongoing World Athletics Championship in Budapest was dashed as Tobiloba Amusan endured what was a rare performance on the track in a very long time to finish sixth.

The World Record holder had recorded consecutive drop in numbers on the road to the final as she finished 12.48, 12.56 in the semi-final and 12.62.

Surprisingly, finished in sixth place, entirely missing out on a podium finish, but retains her 12.12 ratified world record.

Danielle Williams of Jamaica won the 100 metres hurdles with a time of 12.43 seconds, followed by Puerto Rico’s Jasmine Camacho-Quinn, while USA’s Kendra Harrison finished third with a time of 12.46.

Devynne Charlton of Barbados came fourth as she ran a time of 12.52, just narrowly ahead of the Nigerian was Ackera Nugent of Jamaica with a time of 12.61.

Swiss Ditaji Kambundji with 12.70 and finally USA’s Nia Ali with a time of 12.78.
