NPFL: Bendel Insurance beat 3SC, Pillars edge Katsina United

Bendel Insurance started their league campaign with a 2-0 win over Shooting Stars at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, on Saturday night.

Insurance left the memory of their disappointing exit from the CAF Confederation Cup behind, by outplaying their visitors from start to finish.

The hosts got their noses in front after 20 minutes when Shooting Stars defender, Ismail Falke, put the ball into his own net.

Monday Odigie’s side were forced into the early substitution when star midfielder, Tamara Ezekiel left the pitch in the first half due to injury and was replaced by Kelly Kester.

Insurance were not dithered by the set back as Evans Ogbonda sealed the points with a ferocious strike 11 minutes from time.

Elsewhere, Kano Pillars pipped Katsina United, 1-0 in Northwest derby played at Sani Abacha Stadium Kano.

Ibrahim Mustapha made the difference with the only goal of the game scored in the 24th minute.

Doma United brought Bayelsa United down to earth, thrashing them 2-0 at the Pantami Stadium, thanks to strikes from Andrew Majalisa (21 minute) and Charles Terwar (28 minute).
