Okagbare set to appeal AIU’s 10-year ban

Nigeria sprinter Blessing Okagbare has said her lawyers are studying Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) and will make official statements.

On Friday, the AIU slammed the 33-year-old with a 10-year ban for violating and “multiple breaches of anti-doping rules”.

The Athletics Integrity Units in a statement revealed, Okagba was banned for five years for the use of multiple prohibited substances and another five years for not co-operating with the investigation.

In her reaction, the Beijing 2008 star said her layers are on top of the situation and an appeal is likely to be lodged.

My attention has been drawn to the statement issued by the AIU regarding its disciplinary panel decision.

My lawyers are currently studying it for our next line of action which we will inform you soon.” She said.
