Okoye is in the debate of best young goalkeepers in Europe — Henke Fraser

Sparta Rotterdam coach, Henk Fraser is convinced in the ability of Super Eagles goalkeeper, Maduka Okoye.

In the 2020-2021 season that happened to be his first and breakthrough season as a professional, Okoye kept an impressive 10 clean sheets in 21 games for Sparta Rotherham.

This term, The 22-year-old is the shining light in Sparta Rotherham’s dark season — keeping kept five clean sheets from the twenty four matches — with three of them coming in the last three weeks. 

In a chat with Dutch media, Fraser said Okoye is a fantastic goalkeeper with solid foundation and that’s the reason, behind his good performance.

The Dutch manager added that, Okoye has improved mentally and convinced he’s among the best young keepers in Europe at the moment.

“He has it in him to be the very best because his foundation is very grounded,” Fraser told reporters.

“Over time you see his mental strength and development increase and it is helping him.

“He has done well this season enough to say he is in the debate of the best young keepers in Europe at the moment.”

Okoye is expected to leave the Club at the end of the current season. He has signed a five year contract with Premier League side Watford FC.
