Olayinka’s goal hands Slavia Prague first Europa League win

Super Eagles striker Peter Olayinka scored the that gave Slavia Prague a vital win over their visitors Bayer Leverkusen in Thursday’s Europa League group C game.

 

Olayinka who started the game from the bench was introduced in the 61st minutes for Oscar Dorley.

 

The gangling Nigerian forward however justified coach Jindrich Trpisovsky’s decision to sent him as he netted the winner with 10 minutes left to earn Slavia Prague’s first win in the group.

 

Slavia Prague missed the opportunity to double their lead as Nicolae Stanciu missed a penalty awarded to them by referee William Cullum from Scotland.

 

Leverkusen were reduced to 10 men after Algerian midfielder Karim Bellarabi was shown a red card in the 22nd minute.

 

The win moved Slavia Prague to third in Group C standings with three points, behind Bayer Leverkusen, Hapoel Beer Sheva who are also on the same points but have better goal difference.
