Victor Osimhen was in fine form for Napoli, who on Tuesday beat Empoli to secure 10th consecutive domestic league victory.
Osimhen, fresh from becoming Nigeria’s leading scorer in the Serie A over the weekend, was nuisance to the visitors’ defense all through the game.
They dominated but had to wait until the 70th minute to open the scoring, with substitute Hirving Lozano.
Osimhen won the penalty out of nothing when he chased down a ball and drew a foul from Razvan Marin.
The 23-year-old thought he had added the second minutes later, Alberto Grassi cleared his effort off the line and denied him ninth Serie A goal of the campaign.
Zielinski however finished a Lozano move late on for Napoli’s first victory over Empoli, after three previous consecutive Serie A defeats.
In addition, Napoli have now won their 10th Serie A game in a row to sit eight points clear of AC Milan at the top of the table.
