Adaku Nwandu was eliminated from the Women’s 50m Freestyle at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games on Saturday.

The 16-year-old swimmer finished second in Heat 6 with a time of 26.62 seconds, narrowly trailing behind Elizaveta Pecherskikh, who won the race with a time of 26.26 seconds.

Despite her commendable performance, Nwandu’s time fell short by 0.36 seconds, preventing her from advancing to the next round and marked the end of her journey at the Paris 2024 Olympics.

Nwandu’s teammate, Tobi Sijuade, suffered a similar disappointment in the Men’s 50m Freestyle on Wednesday, failing to qualify for the semifinals.

Nigeria’s Olympic campaign has seen further setbacks with the elimination of their athletes in table tennis, football, boxing, and badminton.
