Paul Onuachu scored his first goal of the new year as Genk beat rivals Club Brugge 3-1 in the Jupiler league on Sunday.
The goal is a huge relief for Onuachu after firing blank in the cup game against Anderlecht and shocking league defeat to Kortrijk.
Onuachu now has 14 league goals for Wouter Vrancken’s side this season.
The Forward however scored in the second half to give Genk the lead after Colombian forward Carlos Cuesta had cancelled out Hans Vanaken’s opener for Club Brugge.
He has another chance to get his brace, but was denied by Simon Mignolet in goal for Club Brugge.
Bryan Heymen however put the game beyond the visitors with Genk’s third goal in the 81st minute.
The victory opened 17 points between Genk and Club Brugge, with the Limburgers leading the table with 49 points in 19 matches.
