Poor referee decisions cost Tornadoes a place in the final – Ogbe

Following his side’s semi-final lost to Wikki Tourists of Bauchi atthe 2018 Ahlan pre-season tour, Niger Tornadoes head coachBernard Ogbe feels his side was hard done by poor decisions from the match officials.

Unbeaten Niger Tornadoes was was on their way to another victory after Otuke Michael gave them early lead, before Aliyu Zubairu led Wikki Tourists of Bauchi fired back with two goals from Mohammed Mohammed and Idris Guda to dump the Ikon Allah boys out of the tournament.

Ogbeide who took over the weeks back was angry with the manner of which his side suffered their first defeat at the tournament, he believes the officials were wrong to have allowed Wikki Tourists second goal to stand.

“We didn’t lose to a better side, because I felt that the second goal the opponents scored shouldn’t have stood because the striker was four to five meters behind my last defender.

“I was expecting a better judgment as that was concerned and with that I still fee strongly feel we didn’t lose to a better side”.

Despite the defeat, Ogbe praised his side for their impressive performances at the tournament but insists his newly assembled players must continue to work hard.

I want to appreciate my players which we quickly assembled and are doing fantastically well, however we are not going to get carried away with the performance of the team , it’s still team in progress and we will continue working till the team is ready before the commencement of Nigeria professional football league next year.”He concluded.
