Randy Waldrum reveals World Cup target with the Super Falcons

Super Falcons head coach Randy Waldrum says his target is to lead the team to the knock out phase of the FIFA World Cup in 2023.

Nigeria has attended every edition of the FIFA Women’s World Cup since it started in 1991, But the Falcons have never made it beyond the quarterfinal stage.

The African giants haven’t been at their best lately, failing to defend their African title in Morocco and followed by defeats to Morocco, Zambia, United States ( twice ) and Japan.

Waldrum, however, maintains that his objective is to guide the team beyond the Group phase of the 2023 FIFA World Cup.

“As far as the World Cup, our expectations are to make it out of our group and make a deep run in the World Cup.

“We feel like we have the talent to do that, and right now, we just need time to gather with the team and to prepare properly,” He said just before his side took on Japan at the Noevir Stadium this morning in Kobe.

The team lost 2-0 to the Nadeshiko Japan in latest international friendly.
