In a thrilling encounter at Sani Abacha Stadium, Enugu Rangers showcased their resilience, earning a hard-fought 1-1 draw against Kano Pillars on Wednesday.

Despite dominating proceedings from the start, Rangers faced stiff resistance from the home side.

The match saw numerous goal-scoring opportunities for Rangers, with Zulkifilu Rabiu’s early shot being brilliantly saved by Kano Pillars’ goalkeeper, Galadima Muhammed.

Chiemezie Okorie also came close to breaking the deadlock, only to be denied by Galadima’s heroics once again.

However, against the run of play, Kano Pillars took the lead as Sani Mubarak calmly slotted home a rebound in the 27th minute.

Despite Rangers’ efforts, including a freekick that hit the crossbar, they struggled to find the equalizer in the first half.

The second half saw Rangers continue their attacking intent, and their persistence paid off when Chinemerem Ugwueze capitalized on a defensive lapse to level the score in the 52nd minute.

The introduction of Amobi Ezeaku injected further energy into Rangers’ attack, causing problems for Kano Pillars’ defense.

With this result, Rangers now sit third in the league standings with 42 points from 25 matches.

Their next challenge awaits them on Sunday, March 17, as they face league leaders Lobi Stars at Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium.
