Sadiq Umar was on target as UD Almería boosted their hopes of promotion to LaLiga, with a 0-3 win over Malaga at the La Rosaleda on Tuesday.
The victory moved Almeria to just a point behind joint leaders Espanyol and Mallorca, although they have played a game more.
Almeria took the lead in the eleventh minute after José Carlos Lazo recovered the ball in the center of the field and sent a pass to Lucaz Robertone who fired past Dani Barrio.
The rojiblancos thought they have won penalty few minutes later, Umar fell down inside the area under a challenge and the referee awarded a penalty. However, its was overturned after VAR review.
Spanish midfielder Lazo added the second from long distance for Almeria in the 29th minute, before Umar (77′) completed the rout with the third goal.
Umar has now scored 15 league goals for Almeria since joining from Partizan Belgrade last summer.
