Former Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr says he expects Nigeria to shine at the 2022 African Cup of Nations in Cameroon, despite losing his job.
Rohr qualified the country for the African biggest Football showdown but was sacked from his role by the Nigeria Football Federation.
Speaking with AFP, Rohr said, he’s disappointed to lose his job, but expects the team to do well at the tournament without him.
“It’s a huge frustration, but I don’t want to argue, it’s not my style.”
“(I’m) convinced that they will have a very good AFCON because the team is in place and this very united group is ready for the challenges that await it.”
The former Gabon and Burkina Faso handler continue: “I’m going to have a hard time doing without these great players and this very united staff, but the environment is not always favourable, we cannot control everything.”
Rohr has since been replaced by former Nigerian international Austin Eguaveon and Salisu Yusuf.
