Rwandan forward, Innocent Nshuti is aware of the high expectations as the Amavubi gear up to face Nigeria in a 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying match today.

The Group D matchday two encounter will be held at the Amahoro Stadium in Kigali.

Nshuti, who scored the equalizer in Rwanda’s 1-1 draw against Libya last Wednesday, will once again lead the attack as his team aims for a positive result against Nigeria.

Speaking ahead of Tuesday’s fixture, Nshuti emphasized the importance of teamwork despite his role as a striker.

“As a striker, I should score always, but we work as a team, and if one scores, it is a team goal,” he said. Reflecting on his performance,” he added.

“When strikers score goals, their confidence goes up. I’m happy to have scored that goal and believe I can do more going forward.”

The One Knoxville SC player also called for consistency and a strong performance following the draw against Libya.

“We have to keep doing the same. We did a brilliant job, it was a big game, and everyone is happy,” Nshuti remarked. “We cannot keep going up and then down.

“We have to maintain momentum, especially with many more games ahead. If we want to stay positive, we need to win more against our opponents.”

Rwanda, who have only lost once in their last seven matches, will look to Nshuti’s experience and goal-scoring ability.

The 25-year-old has netted five goals in 19 appearances for his country since his debut in 2017.
