Sadiq Umar’s goal earns Almeria first point of the season

Super Eagles forward Sadiq Umar scored his first topflight goal for newly promoted side UD Almeria.

The Nigerian lanky forward was on target in the La Liga clash away at Elche on Monday.

Umar kept his place in the attack as Almeria arrived at the Estadio Martinez Valero, searching for the first point of the campaign, after the opening day defeat to Real Madrid.

Umar who has been linked with several clubs showed why he’s a wanted man around Europe with the first goal of the game in the first half.

He connected with Lucas Robertone’s brilliant ball in the 23rd minute to give the visitors the lead.

The lead however lasted for seven minutes as the hosts found their way back into the tie.

Alex Colado got on the end of Roger Mati’s ball in the 30th minute to restore parity for his side.

There was no further goal in the game as both sides held on for a vital point.

Umar lasted for 82 minutes on the pitch before being replaced by Diego Sousa, in what was his second appearance for the season.
