Sevilla thump Real Betis 2-0 as La Liga returns after three months covid19 break

Lucas Ocampos and Fernando were the heroes as Sevilla beat Real Betis as La Liga finally returned after three months break.

It was the first league game in Spain after the season was put on hold as the result of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

 

The game also saw La Liga became the second major to resumed in Europe After the German Bundesliga.

 

Sevilla hosted their neighbors, Real Betis at the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium on Thursday night but both side struggled to create meaningful chances in the first 45 minutes.

 

The game came to life after the break, when Lucas Ocampos put the host ahead eleven minutes after the restart from the spot kick.

 

Fernando sealed the three points for Sevilla six minutes later with another fine finish from the close range.

 

Meanwhile leaders Barcelona are in action for the first time on Saturday, while Real Madrid play on Sunday.
