Shehu, Iyayi Atiemwen Star In Omonia Nicosia’s Win Over Royal Antwerp

Shehu Abdullahi helped his Club Omonia Nicosia to an impressive 4-2 victory over Belgium Jupiler League side Royal Antwerp in Europa League clash at the Neo GPS stadium on Thursday.

The Super Eagles versatile player was deployed to his favorite right-back position by Omonia Head Coach Henning Berg.

The 27-year-old played the entire minutes of the encounter and he was impressive for his team.

The away side took the lead in the 26th minute, after M. A. Balikwisha set up Manuel Benson who then finished off the chances.

Shehu Abdullahi and his mates reacted positively to the set back and start to dictate the game. Their efforts was rewarded in the 44th as Loizos Loizou restored parity.

Omonia Nicosia turned the game around in the second half as Kakoullis made it 2-1 in the 48th minute, before Loizos Loizou scored his second goal of the game to make it 3-1.

Royal Antwerp pulled a goal back through Koji Miyoshi in the 62nd minutes, but another Nigerian Iyayi Believe Atiemwen who came on as substitute netted a last minute penalty to restore Omonia Nicosia two goal advantage.

The game ended 4-2 and Omonia Nicosia will be hoping to finish off job when they travel to Belgium next week for the return leg.
