Shorunmo backs Rohr to continue to open up Eagles on players selection

Former Super Eagles goalkeeper trainer Ike Shorunmo has stated that the selection of players for the Super Eagles AFCON matches should continuously be made competitive to make players thirst to play and make a difference at the ongoing Africa cup of nations Egypt.

Shorunmo speaking in a chat with brila.net said the first group stage match had a surprise line up which eventually still impacted on the quality of delivery of the substitutes who made a big difference in the team.
He added that all players should be encouraged and given the chance to justify their inclusion in the squad for the AFCON.
“For sure we need to let it open and not make playing in the starting line up a permanent thing for players and they will not be over relaxed. So we need to make it competitive.
“We can see what really happened the last time, there were some players that they changed in the team and people believed that they can’t be changed until the substitutions were made,” Shorunmu concluded.
