According to the Karate Federation of Nigeria, Three Nigeria athletes will represent the country in the 2018 World Karate Championship in Madrid which kick-off from 3rd to 11th November.
This was disclosed by the Secretary-General of KFN, Ahmed Abdullahi who said the three athletes got the nod from the federation because they are the best ranked Karate players in the country.
The three athletes are led by the National team Captain, Efezino Akpotu who will compete in -75kg, alongside Prince Ocholi Ameh and Ujunwa Nwankwo who are competing in the -68kg and +84kg category respectively.
Abdullahi said the federation has picked the best athletes to represent the country and believe with the right motivation, the athletes won’t disappoint Nigerians.
“In 1996, Nigeria fielded one athlete, Segun Akinola at the World Championship in South Africa; in 2009, we also took one athlete, Maxwell Nwaboze to the World Championship in Japan. I am happy the country is fielding three athletes this time around”.
