Spartak Moscow drops Victor Moses from squad to face Benfica

Spartak Moscow coach Rui Vitoria has ruled Victor Moses out of his side’s Champions League in the third round qualifiers against Benfica on Tuesday.

The gaffer confirmed in Monday’s news conference that the former Nigerian international picked up an injury and didn’t travel wit the team.

Moses had a good start to the season, but he will now sit out of one of the most important games for the club this season.

Spartak Moscow, lost first meeting 2-0 at home and they will have to be at their best to stand a chance of turning the result around.

Speaking ahead of the game, Rui Vitoria said his side will be lacking experience players, in the absence of Victor Moses.

“Yes, our players may lack experience at this level. In addition, we did not bring Moses and Promes here, who are injured.

“Melkadze and Maslov are also absent. But we have a plan for tomorrow. I hope it helps us fix the mistakes and turn the situation around. ” he said.
