Super Eagles may face Egypt, Ghana or Mali in FIFA World Cup qualifying playoff

The Super Eagles of Nigeria will know their final opponents in the FIFA World Cup qualifiers next month.

The Super Eagles advanced to the final phase of the qualifiers, following their 1-1 against the Blue Sharks Of Cape Verde on Tuesday.

Three-time African champions, went ahead inside the opening two minutes, through Victor Osimhen, but the lead lasted for only three minutes as the visitors hit back.

The game ended in a stalemate and Nigeria picked the Group sole ticket — with 13 points and will now face either Egypt, Cameroon, Ghana, DR Congo, or Mali for a place in Qatar.

Super Eagles are ranked among the top five best countries in Africa, alongside Morocco, Tunisia, Senegal, and current African Algeria and these countries will avoid one another in the next round.

The five winners from the playoff will represent Africa in the 2022 World Cup to be held in Qatar late next year.

The draw will be conducted on December 8th, 2021 while the matches will be played in March 2022.
