Super Eagles off to Cotonou for AFCON Qualifying Match Against Benin Republic

Super Eagles of Nigeria have left the country for Cotonou ahead of their African Cup of Nations qualifiers against Benin Republic billed for Saturday.

The three time African champions left in the early hours of the Friday and are expected to arrive their destination in few hours.

 

The 23-man team and the coaches were escorted to Cotonou by the officials of Nigeria Football Federation, the Navy, Army and Marine Police.

 

The team will train in Cotonou and then leave for Port Novo which is the venue of the match on Saturday.

 

Super Eagles defeated the Squirrels 2-1 in the first meeting back in 2019 and they will be aiming to make it back to back wins against their neighbors.

 

Nigeria needs just a point from the game to seal qualification for the 2022 African Cup of Nations billed for Cameroon.

 

The Super Eagles currently lead Group L with eight points, while Saturday’s opponents are second with seven points.
