Super Eagles Stars help club to first European quarterfinal in 15-years

Joe Aribo, Leon Balogun and Calvin Bassey all saw action for Rangers in their 2-1 UEFA Europa League round of 16 second leg defeat against Red Star Belgrade in Serbia on Thursday.

The trio played from the start, but Aribo didn’t end the game as he was taken off in the second half.

Nigerian-Norwegian Ohi Omoijuanfo also featured for Serbian side and was the most impressive on the night.

Omoijuanfo dominated the Gers defense and assisted one of the goals scored by Red Stars Belgrade.

The striker shrugged off Calvin Bassey and set up Pavkov for a simple finish, but blasted over.

He also tested Rangers goalkeeper with a ferocious attempt in the second half, but McGregor was equal to the task.

Mirko Ivanic gave Red The lead inside opening 10 minute, but Ryan Kent equalised in the second half.

Ben Nabouhare netted a stoppage time penalty for Red Star, but wasn’t enough to send them to the quarter final as Rangers progressd 4-2 on aggregate.

Rangers have now clinched a last-eight berth in major European club competition for the first time since 2007-08.
