It was a mixed week for Nigerian players in Europe across different leagues, and we start from the Championship with the Promotion chasing Leicester City who had Wilfred Ndidi in action on Saturday against West Brom.

Ndidi opened the scoring for Leicester City in their 2-1 home victory over West Bromwich Albion.

The midfielder, whose contract is set to expire at the end of the season, has been a mainstay in the team despite Leicester’s relegation to the Championship.

Still in the championship, Joe Aribo found the back of the net for Southampton, scoring their only goal in a defeat away at Cardiff City. This brings his season goal tally to 4 goals and 1 assist.

In the Premier League, Alex Iwobi and Calvin Bassey featured for Fulham in their home defeat to Liverpool, as Fulham succumbed to a 3-1 loss at home.

Moving on to Scotland, Cyril Dessers scored a brace for Rangers, driving them into the Scottish Cup final with a 2-0 victory over Hearts. Leon Balogun was also a major figure for The Gers

The 29-year-old forward has been in fine form, netting 19 goals and 8 assists in 48 appearances this season.

In Serie A, Ademola Lookman was instrumental for Atalanta, providing assists for both goals in their away win over Monza.

Meanwhile, Victor Osimhen and Napoli suffered a setback in their quest for a Champions League spot, falling to a 1-0 defeat against Empoli.

The Italian champions currently sit in 8th place in the league standings, facing challenges in their campaign.

Chidera Ejuke secured a crucial away victory for Royal Antwerp with his solitary goal against Brugge Cercle, ensuring a hard-fought 1-0 win.
