After Friday’s disappointing result, Ex international, Mutiu Adepoju has appealed to Nigerians to never stop supporting the Super Eagles.
It was a show of horror for many Nigerians who watched the Super Eagles surrendered a four goals lead against Sierra Leone and managed to get a point at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium.
The three-time African champions were cruising with goals from Alex Iwobi, Victor Osimhen, and Samuel Chukwueze, but a spirited fightback saw Quee Kamara (brace), Al-Hadji Kamara, Mustapha Bundu all scored to stunned Nigeria.
Adepoju, however, believes the Super Eagles took their foot off the gas when they finally haven’t been blown and it’s a harsh lesson they must learn.
He then appealed to Nigerians to continue to support the team, ahead of the return leg in Freetown.
“Every game comes with its lessons and this game against Sierra Leone is one of them. A match is not won until the final whistle is blown. Fellow Nigerians, I appeal to you that we keep supporting our dear Super Eagles and I strongly believe they will bounce back in the return leg”.
The Super Eagles and the Leone Stars will rekindle their rivalry in Freetown on Tuesday.
