Nigeria will face Benin Republic in the final round of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) qualifiers after their West African neighbors secured a comfortable win over Sierra Leone.
Reacting to the matchup, former Super Falcons assistant, coach Mansur Abdullahi is confident Nigeria will advance to the tournament, leveraging on the team’s strength and experience.
In a chat with Brila.net, Abdullahi described the encounter as a “local derby” but stated that he has full trust in the current technical crew to guide the Falcons to victory.
“The question we look at is who are Benin Republic to Nigeria? It’s going to be like a local derby, I am not the coach, but I have so much confidence in the technical ability of the Super Falcons’ technical crew.”
“Benin Republic will never have any hidden place to hide. Surely, Nigeria will qualify for the WAFCON.”
The Super Falcons, nine-time African champions, will aim to secure their place in the 2024 WAFCON as they continue their quest for continental dominance.
